Despite the backing from the owners, Danny Rohl’s future at Rangers remains uncertain going into the 2026/27 season.

The German lost a large number of the club’s supporters due to how the team ended last season and finished in third place.

Rohl’s treatment of James Tavernier was also not looked at fondly by the fans, as the departing club captain did not get the kind of farewell that he would have wanted.

RB Salzburg in talks with Rangers over Danny Rohl’s future

According to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg, the Ibrox outfit are in talks with RB Salzburg over Rohl’s future.

The Austrian giants are admirers of the Rangers manager and want to appoint him as their head coach going into the new season.

Rohl, who has already worked in the Red Bull group with RB Leipzig, could envision a move to Salzburg.

Who do you see replacing him?

The two clubs are said to be in direct contact to find a solution for the 37-year-old, with an exit not being ruled out at this stage.

Rohl has been linked with other clubs in recent months, but the feeling always was that he would be staying put at Ibrox.

However, with a direct approach now being made by RB Salzburg, things could change going into the new season.

What is Andrew Cavenagh’s stance on Rohl?

Andrew Cavenagh has been playing a hands-on role since he took over as the Chairman of Rangers.

In that time, he has had to make a number of big decisions, including hiring and firing Russell Martin.

Now, he has another big one to make on Rohl despite backing him following a poor end to last season.

Cavenagh likes Rohl and believes that he can turn things around in Glasgow.

However, the American will not be standing in the way of the manager if he fancies a move to Salzburg.

He will allow Rohl to leave should the Austrian side compensate the Gers for taking their manager.

It remains unclear what the discussions are about between the two clubs, but had there been no interest from Rohl, there would have been no conversations taking place.
