Leading Scottish football journalist Chris Jack has claimed that Rangers have scheduled an interview with new manager candidate Kevin Muscat.

According to the Herald & Times group journalist, Rangers are set to meet with Yokohama F Marinos manager Kevin Muscat via Zoom as they step up their hunt to replace Michael Beale.

This comes with the Australian manager, 50, being extensively linked with a move to Rangers, now Japanese-based boss spending a treble-winning season at the club in 2002/03.

Chris Jack was speaking on the Rangers Review Daily Briefing (04/10) when about 26 minutes into the broadcast he was text with the Kevin Muscat news.

“Just a quick update on a text message that I’ve got there,” said Chris Jack.

“Obviously I can’t tell you who it’s from but I am seeing that Kevin Muscat has a Zoom interview arranged.

“So I’ll be trying to get to the bottom of that one over the next couple of hours; it could be breaking news, it could be nonsense, it could be a WhatsApp text.

“But given the person its from I’m inclined to believe it so I’ll try to get to the bottom that one.”

Chris Jack: Rangers to interview Kevin Muscat

Chris Jack is considered one of the most reputable sources on all things Rangers so there could well be something in the Kevin Muscat interview claims.

The claim that the Gers are potentially set to speak to the Australian should also come as no surprise.

Kevin Muscat is one of the names most prominently linked to the becoming the new Rangers manager and it’s only right the club sound the Yokohama F Marinos boss out.

But by the same token, just because Chris Jack claims the manager could seak to Rangers it is no guarantee the club will move and it’ll take a big interview from Kevin Muscat to convince the club.

At the risk of egg landing firmly on the faces of the under pressure James Bisgrove and John Bennett, following in the footsteps of Celtic and Ange Postecoglou is a risky move.
