Ben Godfrey admits captaining Rangers was an ‘incredible feeling’
Godfrey took to Instagram to explain how delighted he was to captain the Light Blues on his first night at Ibrox.
More importantly, he was thrilled by the victory and also that he managed to play in front of the Rangers supporters.
By his words, he seems excited for the new season to begin, with the first game against Dundee United on 31 July.

Godfrey wrote: “To be captain on my first night at Ibrox was an incredible feeling.
“Great to play in front of you all and topped off with a win.
“Another step closer to the league games.”

The case for making Godfrey the captain is that he has worn the armband in the Premier League for Norwich City and has been lauded for his leadership.
He has the experience of playing in top European leagues and is known to be a commanding presence from the back.
McInnes has spoken about wanting to have multiple captains, and he could see the 28-year-old as one of his leaders.

He could be a leader and lead by example, but if there are players like Lawrence Shankland, Tuur Rommens, Emmanuel Fernandez and Dan Neil, it makes very little sense to give the centre-back the armband.
