Bayern Munich beat Borussia Dortmund to regain their lead at the top of the Bundesliga as Rangers boss Michael Beale hints at Thomas Tuchel in the pursuit of Malik Tillman.
The 10-in-a-row Bundesliga Champions had sacked young coach Julian Nagelsmann to replace him with ex-Chelsea boss Tuchel as their grip on the German top flight threatened to loosen.
But this has eased somewhat in recent weeks with Thomas Tuchel guiding Bayern to a 4-2 win over Dortmund to leapfrog to the top of the Bundesliga table in his first game in charge.
The German giants now have a two point lead over their Bundesliga rivals with this season set to be the closest run in Germany in a while.
And whilst it’s not over yet, Rangers fans will have a vested interest in what happens with Thomas Tuchel and Bayern given the club’s interest in loanee Malik Tillman.
Thomas Tuchel involved in Malik Tillman negotiations
New managers usually like to run the rule over their squad in their first summer in charge and it has led to fears Tuchel might hope to do the same with Bayern and Malik Tillman.
Rangers boss Michael Beale even appeared to recognise this as he mentioned the former Dortmund manager in comments about the Ibrox club pursuing their Malik Tillman option-to-buy with Bayern.
This was after Tillman netted a double in the 2-0 win over Dundee Utd, taking his goal haul to 12 for the season.
“Ross (Wilson) is away in the background speaking to Bayern,” said Beale.
“They have obviously had a change of coach, but we want to activate the clause that we got. There are discussions about that, but he has been really good for us.
“He has been injured of late but it’s nice to see him, Todd (Cantwell) and Ryan (Kent) playing together.”
Rangers fans urge club to stump up for Bayern talent
The comments come as Rangers fans urge the club to stump up the reported £5m to sign Malik Tillman with the young USA international improving by the game.
Still only 20-years-old, there’s a feeling the kid could be the next big thing at Ibrox and there is excitement bubbling about the prospect of him joining permanently.

Reports have previously claimed that the futures of Serge Gnabry and Leroy Sane could be central to the Bayern fate of Malik Tillman, in a major testament to his ability.
Interestingly, as Thomas Tuchel impresses at Bayern, his replacement at Chelsea in Graham Potter has just joined Steven Gerrard on this season’s startling Premier League scrap heap.
