Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Matt Turner was humiliated against Arsenal just hours after the City Ground side had a move for Rangers’ Jack Butland rebuffed.

The Premier League outfit had reportedly approached Rangers with regards Butland earlier in the day, only for the approach to be thrown out.

The Ibrox side are clear that Jack Butland is not for sale in this window and even if he was, we reckon it’d be touching £20m before the Gers would deal.

But as Nottingham Forest are forced to look elsewhere, current number one Matt Turner is at the centre of the club’s untimely defeat to Premier League title challengers Arsenal.

Nottingham Forest goalkeeper humiliated

As Arsenal pressed for an opener in the second half of the match, Matt Turner was eventually beaten at his near post by a smart Gabriel Jesus finish.

The Brazilian striker slotted the ball low between Turner’s legs in a stunning finish which left egg on the goalkeeper’s face.

Minutes later Bukayo Saka would rifle home a second, with Taiwo Awoniyi’s late goal pulling one back for Nottingham Forest in the match.

Had the City Ground side had a stronger goalkeeper in between the sticks, perhaps they’d be celebrating at least a point with the spotlight firmly on Matt Turner amid those transfer links to an alternative.

Rangers’ Jack Butland not for sale

Rangers goalkeeper Jack Butland has been the signing of the season so far with the Ibrox stopper so often the difference between dropped points and three points.

Once again excelling between the sticks in the weekend’s 1-0 win over St Mirren, it’s just further evidence of a keeper on form and a growing Rangers asset.

With one eye now on that England Euro 2024 squad, Gareth Southgate and co will have no choice but to take notice as the ex-Stoke and Crystal Palace goalie continues to impress.

For now, it’s clear Nottingham Forest will have to look elsewhere with Jack Butland not for sale unless someone was to seriously test Rangers’ resolve.
