In a throwback to the 1990’s, Rangers fans sitting down to watch the news this evening would have been surprised to see Jack Butland’s name being mentioned in the latest transfer bulletin.
The Gers number one has been the signing of the season and one of the best Bosman signings that the club has ever made.
Manager Philippe Clement will want to keep all of his best players as he looks to mount a title challenge and restore Rangers back to the top of the table, with Jack Butland being key to this.

Rangers reject Jack Butland bid from Nottingham Forest
The Light Blues defence has been the best in the country so far this season with the 9-times capped England international being pivotal to that.
According to STV, Rangers have rejected a bid from an English team with Heart and Hand’s David Edgar also name-dropping Nottingham Forest as the potential bidders.
Every successful team needs a top goalkeeper and there is a reason why Butland has had his name mentioned with a view to a potential international recall.
The 30-year old has been near faultless.
As Forest’s director of football, Ross Wilson will know, roughly, what we value Jack Butland at and what Rangers would be willing to take.
He should also know what would happen if the board was to accept a bid for our player of the season at this stage of the campaign.
No player is irreplaceable, but Butland is as close as they come.
In terms of fee, Fraser Forster left Celtic to join Southampton for £10m.
Yes, he was a few years younger but the flip side of this is that he didn’t have the same experience that Butland has.
Butland also has much better distribution, which is a pre-requisite for the modern goalkeeper.
Rangers are now in the sort of position where they don’t need to sell key players to balance the books and in Jack Butland, there are few who are more important.
The summer might be a different story though.
