“Rangers reaction…” – Ibrox insider on 9-cap international transfer bid

Rangers are trying to strengthen in this transfer window so, the last thing they would want to do is lose players like Jack Butland.

An offer from Nottingham Forest has been rejected outright and Gers boss Philippe Clement knows the important of keeping his number one where he is, for now, at least.

The squad needs to be improved and it is clear that the message being sent out from Rangers is that Jack Butland isn’t for sale – at any price.

Rangers give Jack Butland bid the response it deserves

Fan media had a busy summer in terms of transfer news but, the only business that they have been reporting on and been first with the stories in this window has been to rule things out.

This time, there has been a united front and, obviously, a message sent out from within the walls at Ibrox to put fans at ease.

Stevie Clifford of the Four Lads Had a Dream podcast put it best when he posted on X:

“Rangers reaction to any approaches for Jack Butland is a strong refusal to even negotiate, he is not for sale”

The normal line is that every player has a price.

Nine-times capped Jack Butland has a price that Rangers would probably accept, but it won’t be accepted in this window.

The other interesting aspect of Clifford’s statement is that whatever the bid was, it must have been miles away from what we see as being even in the same ball park.

Signing Mohamed Diomande was a statement in that it showed Philippe Clement is being backed by the board.

Putting a statement like this out proves that Rangers are, as the manager has said, aligned in their thinking, Jack Butland is pivotal if the Scottish Premiership title is to return to Ibrox.

For once, it seems like the board, manager and the fans are aligned.
