Statistics show Sam Lammers could be Rangers Suarez or Edouard

Sam Lammers is a Rangers player, the YouTube videos have been watched and the numbers crunched to see what type of a player he is.

His goalscoring record hasn’t been great in recent years but the 26-year old openly admitted that he knows he has to do better on that front and has backed himself to be more prolific.

But what type of player is Sam Lammers going to be for Rangers after completing his £3.5m move to Ibrox, a comparison tool suggests fans could be pleasantly surprised.

How will Sam Lammers look in a Rangers jersey?

Player recruitment is a changed game.

No longer does a club need to have scouts all over the world, the hard work is done online and with databases long before a player gets looked at in the flesh.

Managers will always have their favourites that they watch throughout their careers and trust to do a job wherever they are though.

Michael Beale spoke about how long he had watched Sam Lammers which proves that managers still adopt this principle.

Looking on Opta Analyst, compared to other forwards in the top five leagues and around the world, there are two names that stick out when analysing the former Dutch youth international.

Luis Suarez and Odsonne Edouard.

Both are effective ball carriers and at linking play in the final third, with a similarity rating of over 70%, it gives an idea of what Sam Lammers will bring to Rangers.

The only if, and it’s a big if, Lammers can up his goal scoring numbers to the same levels he had before Atalanta paid £8m for his services then it will be some result for Beale.

As with the rest of this transfer window, this one is definitely on the Gers gaffer given how open he has been about letting everyone know that the 6ft 4inch forward is his man.

If Sam Lammers can be our Luis Suarez, or match Odsonne Edouard’s success in Scotland, then how Rangers got there doesn’t really matter.
