Legendary Atalanta boss Gian Piero Gasperini has reportedly given his blessing for Sam Lammers to join Rangers; a major development in the Ibrox club’s pursuit of the Dutch striker.
According to the Scottish Sun, the 26-year-old striker has now been given the “green light” to go ahead and join the Gers with the 65-year-old Italian manager seeing “no future” for Lammers at Atalanta.

This comes as the former PSV and Heerenveen – who was signed by Gasperini in 2020 on a deal quoted in the Sun report as being worth £8m – returns on loan from Sampdoria following a six month loan.
The news comes amid reports that Rangers are gearing up to give Sam Lammers a medical as he looks to resurrect his initially promising career with a £3.5m move after a disappointing stint in Italy.
Sam Lammers has only scored five league goals in his three seasons since joining Atalanta, the striker having also struggled in a goalscoring sense during loan moves at Eintracht Frankfurt and Empoli.
But back in the 18/19 season – the campaign which certainly inspired Atalanta to pay so much only three years ago – Lammers had netted 16 goals in 31 Eredivisie games with Heerenveen.
Rangers OK’d to sign Sam Lammers amid striker reports
Now, Rangers will hope to get that Sam Lammers should they fork out the reported fee it’ll take to bring the Dutch forward to Glasgow next season.
There have been reports that Rangers are closing in on a move for Sam Lammers with outstanding interest in another forwards ahead of the summer window opening.
Belgian-born Nigerian striker Cyriel Dessers has just been relegated with Cremonese and reports are claiming that Rangers are closing in on a deal for the now Serie B forward.
There have also been consistent links to out-of-contract Josh Maja, who has just failed in his attempts to fire Bordeaux to promotion from Ligue 2 this season.
Sam Lammers is also being extensively linked against the backdrop of Alfredo Morelos’ exit, with the Colombian leaving Govan after six seasons in Glasgow.
