Legendary former Man United boss and ex-Rangers striker Sir Alex Ferguson is pushing the Old Trafford club to sign in-demand Ibrox kid Rory Wilson.

The Gers youth striker has 40 goals at Academy level this season and is one of the most highly-rated young talents in the Scottish game.

This led to much speculation surrounding the player’s future during the break, with Aston Villa and Steven Gerrard heading the list of potential Premier League destinations alongside Man United, Man City and Liverpool.

In total, there are said to be seven teams down south monitoring the situation of Rory Wilson as the 16-year-old looks to sign his first professional deal.

All is not lost with Rangers either, with the Gers still very much in the running, but the next move for Rory will be a potentially defining one so he must consider his options carefully.

According to Rising Ballers, both Sir Alex and ex-Scotland international captain Darren Fletcher are eager to sign fellow Scot Rory Wilson at Man United

Describing the kid as “one of the most wanted youngsters right now” it’s further evidence that Rangers appear to face a fight to retain the youngster’s services.

Rangers media partners Heart & Hand have previously discussed the links surrounding Rory Wilson, and revealed that the interest in the player is genuine.

“I asked the club about this and they said that he hasn’t turned down any offer contrary to some reports on Twitter,” said David Edgar, on the Heart & Hand Daily Update available to Patreon subscribers.

“But of course there may well be interest. Rangers would be due a development fee of around £200-£300k which in terms of his long-term potential isn’t anywhere near what the club value him.

“Talks are still ongoing between the club and the player but he does have other interest, there’s no getting away from that.

“Hopefully he’ll sign a new deal at Rangers, with the pathway significantly better at Rangers although we can’t compete with the riches on offer.

“Talks are still ongoing although there is very much live interest from Premier League clubs and the young man has quite a big decision to make.”

Meanwhile, a leading Scottish football journalist claims Rangers are “categorical” when it comes to circumstances surrounding a leading player’s injury.
