Rangers star Alfredo Morelos “categorically” picked up his season-ending muscle injury on international duty with Colombia, claims a leading journalist.
Jonny McFarlane claims intel he has been given has confirmed that the 25-year-old striker picked up this injury during the most recent international break.
The comments of McFarlane are of particular interest due to grumbles from supporters regarding apparent mistreatment of the striker over the last few weeks.
Some fans had pointed to the use of Alfredo Morelos in several high-profile matches despite earlier muscle complaints and the striker being subbed in the clash with Red Star Belgrade.
The striker was also pictured with a strapping on his thigh during the 2-1 victory over Dundee days later.
This had led to some speculation that Rangers shouldn’t have sent Alfredo Morelos away on international duty with Colombia and complaints regarding the decision.
Alfredo Morelos injury picked up on Colombia duty
The Rangers Review are claiming that “the issue was categorically NOT a complaint previously looked at by the Ibrox club” prior to him leaving for international duty.
This news comes after Rangers confirmed that Alfredo Morelos had been ruled out until pre-season after having surgery on the thigh muscle issue.
“Following an injury sustained whilst on international duty with Colombia, Alfredo Morelos has undergone surgery to his thigh,” reads a Rangers statement.

“Our medical team are pleased with the outcome of the operation and his rehabilitation programme is underway.
“He will return to training with the First Team squad during pre season. We wish him well during his rehabilitation.”
Whilst Rangers have been handed a major blow regarding Alfredo Morelos, another long-term absentee could return to action earlier than originally thought.
