Rangers have taken advantage of the Bosman ruling to land transfer targets ahead of the window officially opening.
Only Clinton Nsiala has be confirmed as signing a pre-contract agreement, however, Damian Garcia, Thomas Galdames, Ben Johnson and Reuell Walters have all been linked.
There is a younger look to the players that Nils Koppen appears to be targeting to improve Philippe Clement’s squad but there is a home-grown issue that needs to be considered with one possible signing addressing recent speculation.

Scott McKenna reflects on Rangers move speculation
Rangers signing of Nsiala would suggest that there is no space for more central defenders until there are departures.
When players are available for free, sometimes there is no such thing as the right time to sign them.
Scott McKenna is known to come from a Celtic supporting family with a coloured past when it comes to Rangers from his time at Aberdeen.
Objectively, he has a physicality and basic defensive nous that has sometimes been missing from the Light Blues defence and, if he was signed, would allow Clement to sell someone like Ben Davies or the Saudi Arabi linked Connor Goldson.
Speaking in Germany as Scotland build up to the opening fixture of the European Championships, Scott McKenna was pressed on the reported interest from Rangers and Celtic and the possibility of returning to the SPFL.
“To be honest I am open to anything.
“I would never rule anything out. But in terms of the speculation, that’s all it’s ever been. It has never really gone any further than that and until there is anything that’s more than that I don’t really have anything to think about.”
“There is no bigger stage if you are on the pitch to put you in the shop window.
“I can only do that by first and foremost training well and trying to get in the manager’s thoughts.”
When asked if his agent will be inundating him with the latest offers, he said:
“They are brilliant like that anyway.
“They would not interrupt me.”
McKenna could be bargain addition to Rangers squad
At 27-years old, McKenna is approaching his peak and is an experienced operator at elite level with 33 caps.
He has also played in the Champions League and held his own against Man City after joining Copenhagen on loan from Nottingham Forest in January.
As with Joe Worrall, McKenna’s departure from Forest is due mainly to a falling out behind the scenes, not because of form.
In a partnership with the former Rangers loanee, they earned promotion to the Premier League and were then comfortable in mid-table the following season.
Rangers have been shopping smart so far in what is set to be a busy transfer window, some signings make more sense than others and Scott McKenna seems like one that doesn’t need any thinking.
