Ridvan Yilmaz attracting transfer interest, manager ‘wants this transfer’ for Rangers defender

Philippe Clement inherited a mess when he took over at Rangers but that is no excuse for what was seen against St Mirren.

There are a handful of players that the manager can trust in his squad, however, it is those on the fringes and who have consistently failed in the past that are the problem.

Moving them on in January will be difficult although Ridvan Yilmaz could be on his way out of Rangers if the reported interest from Turkey materialises.

Ridvan Yilmaz attracting interest with Rangers exit on the cards

According to Turkish journalist, Ersan Sedal, the left back is being eyed for a Rangers reunion with former teammates Borna Barisic and John Lundstram at Trabzonspor:

“Trabzonspor is interested in Rangers’ Rıdvan Yılmaz. Şenol Güneş personally wants this transfer.”

Gunes is the current Trabzonspor manager and is the latest in a long line of teams to be linked with the Rangers No.3

This time last year, Ridvan took the starting jersey from Barisic and kept it with a series of high quality, attacking displays.

This season, he has lost his spot to the ever improving Jefte who has shown a resilience that the Turkey international simply doesn’t have.

How much would Rangers sell Ridvan for?

Signed for £3.5m and on decent wages, Ridvan will be one of the first names that Nils Koppen would want to move on.

As shown in the summer by the £800,000 brought in for five senior players, Rangers won’t be hard to deal with given the desperation to move individuals like Ridvan on.

If they got their money back or anything into seven-figures with a few clauses, a deal would likely be done.

Having spent more time on the left wing recently, Ridvan had a shocker coming off the bench against St Mirren.

He was unsuccessful with none of his crossing attempts and gave the ball away seven times despite on making 18 passes.

After missing the decisive penalty at Hampden too, Ridvan isn’t a player Rangers fans would lose any sleep over if he was to leave.
