Rangers technical director Nils Koppen has pledged to look more closely at the Scottish Premiership market as the club rebuild the Ibrox squad.

The Gers have neglected the homegrown market over the last few years and as a result, have missed out on the likes of Lewis Ferguson and Josh Doig.

Whilst Rangers did pounce to add Connor Barron to the club’s squad this summer, Nils Koppen has claimed that this is just the start at Ibrox.

Pledging to add one extra homegrown player to the Rangers ranks each season, that promise is set to be tested by one Premiership talent who has once again found himself on the scoresheet.

Lyall Cameron scores again for Dundee

Dundee attacking midfielder Lyall Cameron is one of the Scottish Premiership’s top young talents and was once again on form over the weekend.

The 22-year-old scored the opening goal for the Dee in their 1-1 draw with Kilmarnock as the club continue their hunt for a place in this season’s top six.

Lyall Cameron was quickest to react in the Kilmarnock box to fire a shot high into the roof of the net and open the scoring in the match.

Netting his fifth goal of a productive season, the strike was eventually cancelled out by Kilmarnock’s Bobby Wales, but the goal was a reminder of Cameron’s potential at this level.

Out of contract in the summer, Lyall Cameron is one of the Scottish Premiership’s most interesting young talents and the kid has previously claimed he’d relish the chance to prove himself at Ibrox.

Lyall Cameron has Rangers ‘wish’

Back in September, Lyall Cameron hinted that Rangers was a place that he could see himself hopefully playing one day in the future.

It comes after Celtic moved to sign Dundee attacker Luke McCowan at the end of the summer transfer window, with the attacking midfielder going on to impress at Parkhead.

McCowan proves that there is talent to be found in Scotland, with the winger scoring once and laying on three goals in Celtic’s 5-0 win over Ross County this weekend.

“It is hard, to be honest, because I think Luke and I built a really good relationship in the middle of the pitch,” Cameron said in September.

“We knew where each other was and obviously he came up with big moments and so did I.

“So I think we just got on really well and knew what the other person was going to do.

“Obviously losing him at that time of the season was tough, but I think we brought in some good players.

“Hopefully once they find their feet in the team and understand the league they’ll do well.

“We’ve brought in a lot of boys who haven’t really played in this league. You do need the experience of playing in the Premiership. I’ve played here a couple of years now.

“I know I’m only 21 but I’m one of the more experienced guys in the team.

“I think once everyone finds their feet and we start understanding each other I think we’ll be OK.

“I’m really confident in my own abilities and I think I could play in a bigger team.

“Obviously when you come to places like Ibrox, you just wish you could get a move to a team like this.

“Obviously it would be huge for your career. So hopefully one day I can go on to do that.”
