Rangers transfer news: trio join Ibrox exodus, Bundesliga star linked, left-wing duo unlikely

Rangers are hard at work trying to ship players out and bring players in before the transfer window slams shut on Friday evening.

The Ibrox club are trying to rebalance the club’s annual wage budget whilst freeing up space in the squad for some fresh blood to come in and rejuvenate the Ibrox dressing room.

At the same, Philippe Clement is trying to clear-out some of the stink which continues to linger around Auchenhowie.

It’s a huge 48 hours at Ibrox and here’s the latest transfer headlines as Rangers fans frantically refresh their phone screens waiting on something big to happen.

Rangers outgoings: Cantwell, Hagi & Wright

Rangers have been trying to strike greater balance in their squad all summer long as Philippe Clement watches over something of an Ibrox exodus.

Several high earners with big Ibrox experience have moved on and the Rangers cull is not quite done yet.

But of the three players who are heading towards the Rangers exit door, it’s the least pressing of the trio who appears closest to making a move.

Rangers fans will wait for any official confirmation but once-Turkey bound Scott Wright has lined up a move to Birmingham City.

Wright is a squad player at Ibrox and might be about to join Ben Davies in English League One should everything go to plan with a proposed medical.

Todd Cantwell is next in line for the exit door, with Rangers reportedly agreeing a fee with Blackburn Rovers over the wantaway Rangers midfielder.

With personal terms now seemingly the only sticking point, Rangers reportedly hope to recoup £600k from the sale of Cantwell before Friday’s deadline.

The last player who is expected to leave Rangers before the window slams shut is Ianis Hagi but this is where things get a little more complicated.

Whilst the plan has always been to sell Hagi this summer, with options limited outside of Rangers, the Romanian international has made a public appeal to stay.

Rangers target move for Bundesliga centre-back

Centre-back is one area of the squad Rangers are expected to strengthen following the exit of Ben Davies.

Rangers currently have Robin Pröpper, John Souttar and Leon Balogun as senior defensive options and will need another body in the door to shore up the Ibrox defence.

Reports in Spain have suggested that Rangers are well off Almeria’s asking price for Brazilian defender Kaiky so it’s excepted the Gers will move on to the other targets.

The latest name doing the transfer rounds is Hoffenheim centre-back Stanley N’Soki, who worked with Philippe Clement at Club Brugge.

In fact the Belgian manager bought and sold left-sided defender N’Soki, who cost the Bundesliga club a cool £10m (€12m) when they signed him from Brugge in 2022.

Reports in France – the country of N’Soki’s birth and where he came through at PSG – have claimed Rangers are in talks over a January loan deal.

A move for the 25-year-old ticks a lot of boxes.

Two Rangers left-wing targets wanted elsewhere

Another area of the park where Rangers are looking to recruit is on the left-wing but so far the club’s reported targets are proving elusive.

There was plenty of chatter about Rangers interest in Egyptian winger Ibrahim Adel this week, with the 23-year-old stealing the show at the Paris Olympics.

But Rangers News understands that FC Pyramids star Adel has agreed a move to Spain, effectively ruling out any switch to Ibrox.

Another reported Rangers left-wing target is Plymouth star Morgan Whittaker, with the finances involved in any deal admittedly making the link ambitious.

But after Rangers reportedly had a bid turned down earlier in the window, Championship outfit Burnley have launched an enquiry for Whittaker this week.

It leaves journalists like ourselves at something of a loose end when it comes to Rangers’ plans at left-wing and whilst there are rumours aplenty, like everyone else, we’re waiting on news to break.
