Your January 21 Rangers transfer window update. We have news on Cyriel Dessers, Alex Lowry, Robin Propper, Marko Soldo, Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Lennon Miller.

New Dessers suitor to miss out

Leganes have been named as the latest club to be interested in Cyriel Dessers after trying before in 2021, but are expected to miss out.

That’s because the Spaniards want a loan deal but Rangers are said to be making things “difficult” for them by insisting on a permanent deal, which they will struggle to afford.

Serie A side Cagliari also want Dessers but are similarly struggling to raise the funds to make it happen.

Lowry departs

Alex Lowry yesterday completed his Rangers exit by signing for English League One side Wycombe.

The youngster, once thought of as the next big thing, penned an emotional goodbye to his first club and its fans.

Lowry’s progress stalled at Ibrox and he wasn’t getting a look in at first-team level, so will hope this move gives him the fresh start he needs.

The last thing Rangers need is to find themselves even shorter on centre halves after the addition of Rafael Fernandes bolstered them in the problem position.

But Robin Propper has been recommended to Feyenoord as a solution for their own troubles in central defence.

It’s highly unlikely Ibrox chiefs would sanction an exit this month but given how Propper’s time at the club has gone so far, a summer exit shouldn’t be ruled out.

Soldo unlikely

A move to Rangers for target Marko Soldo is looking more and more unlikely.

Dinamo Zagreb secured a buy-back clause in Soldo’s contract and are just about to sell Pavel Sucic to Inter Milan for £17million, so could opt to bring the midfielder back from Osijek.

It has also been reported that Soldo is too expensive for Rangers this month as the chances of moving to Glasgow reduced.

Fosu-Mensah rejected

Rangers reportedly turned down the chance to sign Timothy Fosu-Mensah on a free transfer due to concerns around his fitness.

The former Manchester United defender left Leverkusen in the summer having not played a single game last season and is now being offered around English Championship sides, as well as the Light Blues.

Lennon Miller fears

Udinese yesterday had a £2.5million offer for Lennon Miller turned down as Motherwell stood firm to show interested clubs they won’t budge on their valuation.

Kris Boyd feels they should’ve accepted if it was an offer of the money up front but also fears Gers are about to miss out on an “exceptional” talent.
