Rangers and their hopes of securing a blockbuster return for wing wizard Mikey Moore have been dealt an almighty blow, with German giants Borussia Dortmund entering the race for his signature.

The 18-year-old Tottenham Hotspur prodigy enjoyed a truly sensational spell in Glasgow last term, racking up 47 appearances under immense pressure and chipping in with 11 goal involvements from out wide.

His mesmerising displays did not just win over the Ibrox faithful; they saw him officially crowned the SPFL Scotland young player of the year.

While Rangers have been privately holding onto the hope of bringing the London-born starlet back to Scotland for another season, those aspirations have been rocked by a stunning update from The Athletic.

Borussia Dortmund and other clubs enter Mikey Moore chase

UEFA Champions League heavyweights Borussia Dortmund have lodged concrete interest in taking Moore on loan for the upcoming campaign, according to The Athletic.

The Bundesliga side have formed an elite reputation over the last decade for weaponising young British talent.

Having previously turned the likes of Jadon Sancho and Jude Bellingham into multi-million-pound superstars, Dortmund view Moore as the next elite project capable of exploding on the European stage.

Dortmund are not alone in their admiration, though, with ‘several other clubs’ interested in acquiring the teenager’s services on a temporary basis this summer.

Tottenham hold all cards as Rangers face blow

Despite the intense interest circulating from across the continent, any immediate move remains on the ice.

New Tottenham boss Roberto De Zerbi is keen to have a closer look at the winger during pre-season training before green-lighting any departure.

Spurs return to the training pitch on Friday, 10 July, and while they seemingly have absolutely no intention of selling their crown jewel permanently, a secondary loan move is highly probable.

Rangers are aware that they face a prolonged wait if they wish to remain at the table.

However, with elite European clubs now offering the teenager top-flight football and Champions League exposure, the reality is starting to bite at Ibrox.

Moore’s sublime season in a light blue shirt has done the job too well, catapulting him entirely out of Rangers‘ reach.
