Reported Rangers goalkeeper target Martin Fraisl is “unlikely” to sign a new deal with Schalke 04, claims a fresh report in Germany.
Waz are claiming that the German Bundesliga 2 side are actively looking for a new goalkeeper ahead of next season amid serious doubts the 28-year-old Austrian will sign new terms.

However, part of the reason why Martin Fraisl hasn’t been offered a new deal concerns the level of the player’s abilities rather than the various transfer options on the table.
Waz claim that there are “doubts” within Schalke regarding the long-term ability of Martin Fraisl should the club get promoted to the Bundesliga.
Schalke are currently 4th in the German second flight, four points off an automatic playoff place with eight games to go and very much in the promotion fight.
“Doubts” surround Rangers-linked Schalke 04 stopper Martin Fraisl
This will come as some surprise to Rangers supporters, who’ve heard ultimately positive reports regarding Martin Fraisl ever since the club was first linked in February.
The likes of Premier League Norwich City have also been mentioned whilst there have been murmurs of interest in La Liga and Serie A.
Early claims Rangers had offered Martin Fraisl – who is out of contract at the end of the season – a deal have also been shot down whilst Schalke sporting director Rouen Schroder, speaking to the same outlet who claim there are doubts in the club’s camp, claims no decision has been made.

“As things stand at present, no decisions have been made in the squad planning,” said Schroder, when asked about Martin Fraisl by WAZ.
Rangers have been linked to a whole host of goalkeepers as they look to potentially replace veteran stopper Allan McGregor, who is out of contract come the end of the season.
Meanwhile, an ex-Celtic star was forced to scramble to correct himself after making a statement involving Rangers live on TV.
