Rangers watched on as Owen Beck made an immediate impact upon his return to the Dundee side on Tuesday night.

Rangers have been linked with left back after left back this month and it’s starting to look like the January window will end without an arrival there.

A deal to sign Fluminense left back Jefte has collapsed with loan club APOEL unwilling to let him go.

The Brazilian may still arrive in the summer but Rangers must now consider whether to strike a late move for somebody else or wait for Jefte.

Borna Barisic and Ridvan Yilmaz don’t appear to be going anywhere this month and Rangers may well be minded to wait for somebody like Owen Beck having missed out earlier this month…

Owen Beck makes an impact on Dundee return

Reports earlier in January suggested that Rangers were looking to sign Beck from Liverpool this month.

The Welsh talent spent the first half of the season on loan at Dundee and turned in a host of impressive performances.

Beck certainly looked at home in Scottish football and Rangers were potentially hoping to lure him to Ibrox.

However, Beck made his Premier League debut for Liverpool after being recalled, meaning he was ineligible to play for a third club this season.

That left just one exit route – a return to Dundee.

Beck is back at Dens Park and made an instant impact on his second debut for Dundee, recording an assist in a 1-1 draw at Aberdeen.

The 21-year-old whipped a superb corner into the back post and Lee Ashcroft was on hand to head home to salvage a point.

That kind of quality into the area will certainly appeal to Rangers, especially if Beck is being eyed as a long-term replacement for Barisic.

Beck from one side and James Tavernier from the other sounds very exciting and Beck will now have plenty of chances to impress Rangers having returned to Scotland.

The Gers will surely keep close tabs on Beck moving forward with a summer move potentially in mind having missed out in this transfer window.
