Rangers have been linked with a move for Liverpool left-back Owen Beck after the Anfield club recalled the defender from Dundee.
Beck, 21, impressed in the first half of the season at the Scottish Premiership side with his performances earning him a first senior call up to the Welsh national side.
Dundee paid tribute to the defender following a “fantastic” loan stint at Dens Park with Liverpool now set to assess Owen Beck’s situation ahead of the second half of the campaign.
The decision also comes with Scotland captain Andy Robertson out after shoulder surgery and Kostas Tsimikas breaking his collar bone.
Joe Gomez is now deputising at left-back for the Reds with Owen Beck potentially recalled as a precaution after an impressive six months at Dundee.
Rangers want Liverpool talent Owen Beck
To add an extra dimension to the situation, Rangers have been mentioned alongside Old Firm rivals Celtic as being interested in the Liverpool talent.
After Kenny Miller tipped the Old Firm to be keeping tabs on Beck such was his form at Dundee, Liverpool insider DaveOCKOP has named both Rangers and Celtic as being interested in the defender.
It remains unclear if Liverpool would sanction another loan exit for Owen Beck given the injuries at the club – especially since the Academy graduate is yet to make a Premier League appearance – but Rangers fans will certainly be taking note.
With Borna Barisic out of contract at the end of the season and much chatter surrounding the future of Ridvan Yilmaz, it’s a position the club have been heavily linked to making an investment in recently.
Left-back top of transfer wishlist?
Rangers are expected to be busy in the transfer market this January and have already moved to sign Fabio Silva on loan from Wolves.
Left-back is an area where the club have been linked to several players, with out-of-contract Philadelphia Union left-back Kai Wagner and PSV talent Fredrik Oppegard mentioned.
More recently, there has been some chatter around ex-Hibs defender Josh Doig but with Verona said to be demanding £5.2m it seems to too rich for Ibrox tastes.

Owen Beck may well be a suitable stop gap solution as Rangers look to find some consistency in the position but with big changes looming it’d only kick things up the park.
Rangers and Philippe Clement need greater reliability from left-back and it’s an area to keep an eye on heading into the rest of the January window.
Beck also isn’t the only recalled Liverpool loanee Rangers might have an eye on heading into the remainder of the season.
