Reports are claiming that Rangers are trying to pull out all the stops to sign down talented youth striker Rory Wilson – just as its claimed the striker is set to move to Aston Villa.

The 16-year-old youngster has been the subject of much speculation recently amid claims top clubs in the Premier League are interested in signing the young Scottish striker.

Amongst them includes Aston Villa, with Steven Gerrard likely well aware of Rory Wilson from his time at Ibrox as manager.

A double with the Scotland U17s during the international break has also done little to quell the increasing buzz around the youngster.

As a result of the interest in Rory Wilson, Football Insider are claiming that the Gers have offered to make the 16-year-old the highest paid youngster in the club’s history.

However, the same report claims the youngster is set to turn the offer down with Wilson having his heart set on a move south of the border.

This comes at the same time as reports down south are claiming that the striker is set to complete a move to Aston Villa.

According to the Scottish Sun, the Birmingham club are set to pip Man United, Liverpool and Man City to the signing of Rory Wilson, with Rangers to receive £300k.

This will see the young striker hook up with ex-Rangers boss Steven Gerrard as he looks to continue his progress as a player south of the border.
