Premier League giants set to battle over free-scoring Rangers teen - report

Liverpool, Man Utd and Man City are interested in signing Rangers Academy star Rory Wilson, according to a report, with the striker set to reject a contract offer at Ibrox.

According to the Daily Star, the Premier League giants are keen to snatch Wilson from under the Gers’ noses for a compensation fee once he decides where he wants to sign his first professional contract.

Wilson has been offered a deal by the Light Blues but his prolific form in front of goal has seen a host of suitors keen to sign the 16-year-old.

His recent goal exploits also saw him net a double for Scotland under-17s earlier this week as they rescued a last-minute 2-2 draw against Czech Republic.

The teenager has been involved with the Gers B team in the Lowland League, as well as the UEFA Youth League, as he continues to impress in Rangers’ Academy.

However, the chance to follow the likes Billy Gilmour, Nathan Patterson, Dapo & Dire Mebupe and Nathan Young-Coombes and head to the Premier League may prove too tempting.

If Wilson does decide to head to England, it is another sign of the fantastic strides made by the Gers’ Academy in recent years – although it will be disappointing to lose another highly-rated talent.

Wilson has hit the net 40 times this season for Rangers’ youth sides and is showing real signs of developing into a top striker.

With Scotland facing Scotland tomorrow at under-17s level, he’ll be hoping for another impressive performance to add to his rapidly-growing reputation.

Meanwhile, Rangers have the chance to give Jermain Defoe a perfect send of ahead of this weekend’s legends event.
