Rangers interest in signing Feyenoord striker Danilo is “very much live” but the Ibrox club are hoping to move players on before making their move for the attacker.

That’s the thoughts of Heart & Hand and podcast host David Edgar, who claims that whilst Rangers retain an interest in the 24-year-old Brazilian the club is trying to work other players out of the squad first.

However, the leading Rangers fan media outlet are also claiming that the Ibrox side well aware that this might not be possible and will make their move for Danilo if there are any delays on those proposed exit.

David Edgar was speaking on the outlet’s Daily Update (04/07) which is available to subscribers on its Patreon service.

The comments also come amid conflicting reports surrounding Rangers interest in South American striker Danilo, with some claiming a fresh bid is imminent and others suggesting the deal is on the back burner.

Rangers interest in striker Danilo “very much live”

“Another player who has been linked with a move to Rangers recently is Danilo, with some contrasting reports in the media with regards to that,” said David Edgar.

“Some people in the media saying that it’s on the back burner for now and others saying that Rangers are getting ready to go in with another bid after their first one was rejected.

“My understanding is that it’s a little bit in the middle. Rangers would ideally like to shift a few players, understandably, you want to balance the books as we’re going on.

“But there is the understanding that the timings might not match up; that deals for players leaving the club may take a few more weeks to complete and ‘do you want to run the risk of losing the player whilst that’s going?’

“In an ideal world Rangers would sell a couple of players and then move on from there but it doesn’t always work like that.

“The interest in Danilo is very much real still, it is very much live, and Rangers will look to complete that deal but they do want to see a few players head out the door.”

Rangers have reportedly had an opening £3.5m bid for the striker turned down, with Feyenoord initially expecting double that figure.

Danilo, who only signed for the Eredivisie side after his contract expired at Ajax in the summer, was an important part of the squad who lifted the Dutch top flight trophy, with the striker scoring 10 goals.

There is also plenty of reporting around who Rangers will be looking to ship out of their squad this summer, with a first-team quintet seemingly heading the bill.
