There are conflicting reports surrounding Rangers interest in Feyenoord striker Danilo amid claims the Ibrox side are expected to launch a fresh bid.

The Scottish Sun are claiming that their sources believe Rangers will return for Danilo imminently after having an initial approach rebuffed by the Eredivisie champions.

According to the report, Rangers are now set to submit an improved bid for the striker after having a £3.5m offer chucked out with Danilo now pushing Feyenoord to let him leave Rotterdam for Glasgow.

This would back up earlier reports which had claimed Danilo wants to join the exciting Michael Beale revolution at Ibrox this summer with several new players joining the Gers over the last few weeks.

This includes – imminently – Cremonese striker Cyriel Dessers who is set to join Rangers and is reportedly undergoing a medical.

The former Feyenoord striker is another forward option but despite the Nigerian international’s imminent arrival the Gers are said to still be interested in signing Danilo.

But whilst all these sounds are certainly good when it comes to the 24-year-old Brazilian, reputable journalist Chris Jack has been cooling the transfer talk in an alternative report.

Writing for the Herald, the paper’s widely-respected Rangers correspondent claims that as the club close in on a move for Cyriel Dessers, his sources have suggested that interest in Danilo has been put on the back burner.

However, the journalist claims Rangers could reignite their multi-million pound interest in the striker later in the window.

An excerpt from the article reads:

That switch is now on the backburner following the arrival of Dessers but Rangers remain admirers of the 24-year-old and could reignite their interest in a multi-million agreement at a later date.”

As Rangers close in on a deal for Cyriel Dessers, there is some conjecture surrounding Danilo who as things stand will remain a Feyenoord player.

Rangers remain active in the transfer market however, with the club reportedly closing in on a £3m Premier League deal in another area of the park.
