Rangers are now “very close” to concluding a deal for Nottingham Forest defender Jonathan Panzo, according to a leading insider account.
The 4th Official are claiming that the Gers are on the verge of a securing a deal for the 22-year-old centre-back, who spent last season on loan at Championship outfit Coventry City.
According to the report, Rangers will have negotiated a deal between £2.5m and £3m with the Premier League club to sign Jonathan Panzo as months of speculation finally comes to a crescendo.
The report even claims that if all the particulars are signed in time, Jonathan Panzo could become Rangers’ seventh summer signing in a busy transfer window at Ibrox.
Michael Beale to get his man in Jonathan Panzo
Michael Beale is familiar with the defender from his time with the Chelsea youth academy and Rangers would be getting a former England youth international with sizeable pedigree in at centre-back.
The latest reports come amid much confusion surrounding links to Jonathan Panzo over the weekend, with reports in the Daily Mail that Rangers were closing in on a deal.
However, these were then rebuffed by journalist Scott Burns who claimed that whilst Rangers remain interested, a deal was no closer to completion amid interest from England and Germany.
Leading Herald & Times journalist Chris Jack would also touch on the Rangers pursuit of Jonathan Panzo in an extensive transfer update, claiming talks were “progressing positively”.
But now it appears that Rangers are closing in on their man in the Nottingham Forest centre-back as the club near a deal with Ross Wilson to bring Jonathan Panzo to Ibrox.

Rangers continue solid transfer work
It now appears a matter of time for both the centre-back and Cremonese striker Cyriel Dessers to be announced as the Ibrox side’s sixth and seventh signings of the transfer window.
Rangers are also closing in on a deal for the Belgian-born Nigerian international striker after weeks of negotiations had a breakthrough over the weekend.
Should the deals be concluded for both players, they will follow Kieran Dowell (Norwich), Dujon Sterling (Chelsea), Jack Butland (Crystal Palace), Sam Lammers (Atalanta) and Abdallah Sima (Brighton, loan) into the club.
The club are unlikely to stop there too with major links to the likes of Jose Cifuentes of LAFC and Danilo of Feyenoord persisting in the press.
