A leading Belgian football journalist has revealed the fee that Rangers will pay to complete a deal for Cremonese striker Cyriel Dessers this summer.
Sven Claes has been reporting amid widespread links between Rangers and the 28-year-old striker with a deal for Dessers to become the club’s seventh signing edging closer to completion.
According to Claes, a freelance Belgian journalist with punditry links to the country’s national team and 14.7k followers on Twitter, Rangers will pay a fee of €5m (£4.3m) for Cyriel Dessers.
Sven Claes also reckons that the player’s medical is set to be complete between today (03/07) and tomorrow meaning an announcement over the player could be due this week.
Cyriel Dessers fee could make him Rangers’ most expensive Beale signing
Should the claims be legitimate, and the deal go through as expected, that would make the Nigerian international the most expensive signing of the Michael Beale reign.
The Gers boss’ most expensive signing to date is also from this transfer window, with Rangers shelling out up to £3.5m to sign Atalanta forward Sam Lammers this summer.
Rangers may not be set to stop there either, with Ibrox insiders Heart & Hand claiming that the interest in Cyriel Dessers isn’t set to halt links to Feyenoord striker Danilo, who reportedly boasts a higher transfer fee.
Rangers are said to have had a £3.5m bid rejected for the Brazilian forward, with Feyenoord holding out for up to £7m for the striker.

But before any move for Danilo is complete, Rangers look to be closing in on Cyriel Dessers in a potentially exciting move for the Ibrox club.
Boasting a solid minutes per goal ratio in his career, Cyriel Dessers has scored extensively in the Eredivisie with the likes of Feyenoord, Heracles Almelo and NAC Breda and has spent one season in Italy with Cremonese.
Whilst the Italian club were relegated from Serie A, the striker netted six goals in Serie A and is widely regarded as a potent option at the top end of the park.
