Rangers are one of three clubs who’ve been the subject of surprise links to Fenerbahce winger Oguz Aydin in France.
There’s plenty of chatter about how the Ibrox side will approach the upcoming January transfer window, with Philippe Clement admitting transfer talks are in the offing.
There have been a few names already doing the rounds, with the likes of Kwame Poku and Carney Chukwuemeka recently making headlines.
But the Rangers links to Turkish winger Oguz Aydin, who has a big fan in Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho, are some of the most interesting to date.

Rangers ‘one of three’ tailing Oguz Aydin
Rangers are reportedly ‘showing interest’ in the situation with Oguz Aydin alongside Ligue 1 outfit Stade Rennais and Greek Super League club AEK Athens.
That’s according to French publication Le Courrier Europeen, who’ve been providing an update surrounding the 24-year-old winger’s future.
Oguz Aydin is naturally a right-footed right-winger but can play off the left, with the player’s arrival in the summer all but signalling the end for now released ex-Ibrox winger Ryan Kent at Fenerbahce.
The Istanbul outfit paid a reported (€6m) £5m to sign Aydin from Alanyaspor and according to the French report, a similar fee would be required to sign the winger in January.
That’s despite Aydin signing a contract until 2028 at Fenerbahce and recently bursting onto the scene at Turkish Super Lig challengers.
It’s claimed that Aydin is viewed as a player with high ‘development potential’ and as a result is someone who would fit into Rangers’ revamped player trading model.
But whilst it’s an exciting link for Rangers fans, recent comments from Jose Mourinho suggests it’s a transfer which, from the outside at least, looks particularly ambitious.
Jose Mourinho lauds Rangers ‘transfer target’
Oguz Aydin has had a mixed season at Fenerbahce ever since completing that €6m (£5m) from Alanyaspor in the summer.
Born in the Netherlands and representing the Turkish international team, Aydin played only 22 minutes in the opening 12 Super Lig games with Allan Saint-Maximin preferred by Mourinho.
But in recent matches the winger has begun to turn the tide, with an inspired double and assist performance in the 6-2 win over Kayserispor.
Adding another goal in the 3-1 win over Gaziantep, Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho has lauded Oguz Aydin’s impact since moving to the club this summer.
In comments which will have Rangers fans and everyone else raising doubts over a potential move, the Special One hailed Aydin as having reached his ‘optimal level’ quicker than expected.
Mourinho also claims that the teams that didn’t move for Oguz Aydin this summer – with the likes of Besiktas and Ajax linked – will now be regretting it.
“He is a good player physically and tactically and very intelligent,” Mourinho said about Aydin in early December, as quoted by Marca.
“With all due respect to (Vincenzo) Montella (Turkey manager), he should be happy. I suppose the team that did not sign him will be unhappy.
“We brought him in at the last minute. I asked him to give me time. He was not ready, but, after 4-5 months, he has reached an optimal level. I am very happy for him.”
