As Arsenal reportedly put Auston Trusty up for sale, Rangers should pull the Mikel Arteta card as they look to push the USA international towards Ibrox.
As the ex-Ibrox midfielder assesses his squad, Mikel Arteta who surely have some say on the future of Auston Trusty just weeks on from their valiant Premier League title tilt.

Whilst the Spaniard might have had little to do with the 24-year-old’s transfer – the relationship of Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke with the Colorado Rapids central to the deal – he might just play a big role in his future.
And when Auston Trusty is weighing up his options, should the seemingly exit-bound Arsenal centre-back have several of them, then he’ll need to look no further than Mikel Arteta when asking advice about the famous Glasgow Rangers.
Arsenal boss can point Auston Trusty towards Rangers
The ex-Barcelona talent joined Rangers as a teenager in 2002 and wound up scoring the definitive penalty which essentially secured the club’s 50th league title at the end of the same season.
Whilst his spell in Glasgow wasn’t all roses, it was a steep learning curve for Mikel Arteta who has routinely waxed lyrical about the positive impact the spell at Rangers had in his career.
It might not be the telling factor in any Rangers interest in Arsenal defender Auston Trusty – who was valued at only £2m earlier in the year – but it could certainly be a positive one.
Football is a world where contacts can often make or break a transfer deal and if Rangers are looking to sell the club to Auston Trusty then we reckon Mikel Arteta is worth a nudge.
Centre-back is one position which Michael Beale has been clear Rangers will look to strengthen in this season but – with three signings already in at Ibrox – there has been little movement in that regard.
With the links to Trusty – who won the Birmingham supporters’ Player of the Year whilst on loan at the club last season – there is enough go to suggest Rangers are at least open to the player.
Yet to make an appearance for Arsenal, and with that unlikely to change, perhaps a glowing Rangers recommendation from Mikel Arteta can point Auston Trusty towards a life-changing Ibrox transfer.
