Rangers chase for Danilo appears to be nearing a conclusion with the striker set to be Michael Beale’s summer transfer window jewel in the crown.

The 24-year old Brazilian is an exciting prospect and was a rumour that many saw as unlikely when it first emerged.

Rangers might not be able to buy a player like Dusan Vlahovic, however, in Danilo, they could be signing the next best thing, as revealed by DataMB’s statistics.

Vlahovic signed for Juventus from Fiorentina last January for a reported £66.6m, Rangers are paying around £6m for Danilo, in a transfer that we have been told to “expect confirmation“.

If you want an idea of what Rangers could be getting, in terms of Danilo’s numbers last season, it is the Juventus hitman that comes up as the most similar across the best leagues in Europe.

What Rangers can expect to see from Danilo

If Rangers confirm Danilo, they will be getting someone recognised as a player that can link play with teammates and provide assists, however, first and foremost, he is a goalscorer.

Like Vlahovic, he is a player that thrives on supply and isn’t the type of player who will create chances for himself by beating players.

As we’ve seen already in pre-season friendlies, Rangers will be looking to press high and look to be aggressive and Danilo meets this requirement too.

With Alfredo Morelos leaving, Rangers fans need a new hero to support and Danilo has all the attributes to make him a favourite for the Light Blues support.

The early signs watching Feyenoord’s pre-season is that Danilo could hit the ground running with three goals and a couple of assists in just a few games.

It might not be the £66.6m Juve payed for Vlahovic, but Rangers fans will be expecting the sort of return as if they had paid exactly that.
