Rangers are all set to have a busy summer transfer window as they aim to win the SPFL title next season.

Danny Rohl is set to be backed by the board regardless of how the 2025/26 campaign pans out.

The German can still guide the Gers to the league title, but the target for next term will be to once again win the Scottish Premiership.

Diogo Travassos among three players Rangers scouts may be looking at

According to Kai Watson, a scout and football analyst, the Gers scouts could have been keeping tabs on three Moreirense players.

Diogo Travassos, Afonso Assis and Gilberto Batista are those who could be of interest to the Light Blues ahead of the summer transfer window.

This comes after reports claimed that Rangers had their scouts present for FC Porto’s 3-0 victory over Moreirense on Sunday night.

It is understood to be another big summer of recruitment and despite backing the managers with £40m to spend on new players, there will be more money at Rohl’s disposal in the coming months.

Via X, Watson wrote: “Chances are that the Rangers scouts would’ve been looking at some Moreirense players like:

“Diogo Travassos (loan from Sporting) – 21-year-old right back.

“Afonso Assis – 19-year-old CM.

“Gilberto Batista – 22-year-old CB.

“The first two being particularly good prospects.”

Why Travassos and Assis could be good signings for Rangers

Both Travassos and Assis are high-potential players who fit the model of buying low and selling high for Rangers.

Historically, the Ibrox outfit have always liked to sign unearthed talent on the cheap and that makes good money from their sales.

They did the same with Hamza Igamane, buying him for £1.7m and selling him for £10.4m after just one full season in Scotland.

Travassos is a highly-rated right-back who is also capable of playing as a winger.

His 77th percentile rating for accurate crosses [DataMB] makes him a suitable option as the long-term replacement for James Tavernier, who could leave Rangers in the summer.

Assis, on the other hand, is only 19 but is a quality defensive midfielder who has a good passing range.

He offers a solid physical presence in the middle of the park and could be a good squad player to have from next season.

It remains to be seen if the Gers indeed pursue one of their services in the coming months.
