Keith Jackson has addressed claims about Danny Rohl being sacked if Rangers end the season trophyless.

The Light Blues have the chance to do the double this term as they are in the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup and six points behind Hearts on the Scottish Premiership table.

Celtic also remain in the hunt as they are a point ahead of the Gers, while Motherwell also cannot be written off as they are four points behind the Ibrox outfit but have a game in hand.

Keith Jackson shares one condition that could lead to Danny Rohl’s sacking

Jackson, the Daily Record journalist, does not see Rohl’s sacking taking place any time soon under the current circumstances.

He claims that the hierarchy may look to make a change only if something calamitous happens from now until the end of the season.

In his view, Andrew Cavenagh has been impressed with the German and the same can be said about the rest of the Rangers board, too.

There is an understanding that Rohl has overseen an improvement in the performance levels and the recruitment has also been better recently.

Speaking on the Daily Record Hotline, Jackson said: “Something fairly calamitous will have to happen now in order for Danny Rohl not to get another crack at it.

“I think that Andrew Cavenagh is backing him. I think that they have been impressed by him.

“They have seen a sort of material improvement in the performance level and in the recruitment.

“The team looks stronger.”

When will the Rangers board lose patience in Rohl?

If, when he took over, Rohl had told the board that the Gers would have been in the title picture come March, they would have taken it, no questions asked.

Doubts have only crept in over the past few weeks as the Ibrox outfit are failing to show a killer instinct in games.

If they capitulate against Celtic in the Scottish Cup quarter-final and lose the title by over 10 points, then it may force the board into a decision.

Cavenagh may ask Dan Purdy, Fraser Thornton and co. to then prepare a list of potential replacements to see if they are better.

However, Rohl’s job is extremely safe as of now and he is being backed to end the season strongly.
