Rangers look to be edging closer to signing Sam Lammers after the Four Lads Had a Dream blog revealed that the deal is all but done.

News broke of an imminent agreement over the weekend and Stevie Clifford has gone one further by claiming that an announcement could be made soon.

Writing on Twitter, the Four Lads Had a Dream blogger and Rangers insider reckons that a deal could be presented as early as mid-week.

A fee of around £3.5m is said to have been agreed with Atalanta, with a contract also waiting to be signed, according to Clifford, “it is a go”.

The Four Lads blog built up their profile and reputation on transfer rumours and potential announcements, providing fans with updates that were always more accurate than the mainstream media.

Alongside Heart and Hand, they are now, firmly, part of the media scene at Ibrox and fully connected with everything to do with the Light Blues.

This summer has seen Clifford play a more vocal role in transfer speculation as he has returned to prominence.

Every signing except one has been broken by the blogger.

First this summer, there was Kieran Dowell.

Then there was Dujon Sterling.

And now, Sam Lammers has been revealed as the next player to put pen to paper under Michael Beale as his squad for 2023/24 takes shape.

Only Jack Butland has been announced by someone else – Fabrizio Romano – before the club made it official.

Next up, as claimed by Four Lads yesterday, is the imminent arrival of Sam Lammers which could surprise a few Rangers fans.

Four Lads – Rangers near first forward signing of the summer in Sam Lammers

The 26-year old former Netherlands youth international, with 31 senior goals, has an impressive CV, even if he has struggled to fulfill his potential in recent seasons – early comparisons to Marco van Basten an indicator off his ability.

A permanent home, where he feels loved, is exactly what he needs to kick start a career that promised so much.

Managers will always revert to playing their “own” players rather than put their trust into loan signings unless they make the impact of Ianis Hagi or Malik Tillman.

Rangers will be hoping that this has been a factor in Sam Lammers failing to kick on since shining as a youngster in the Eredivisie.

Encouragingly, a series of top flight clubs have given the 6ft 4inch attacker a chance, which shows that decent managers have identified him as having the potential to make an impact.

Skillful and quick with the ball at his feet, Lammers is not the player that you expect him to be when you see him take to the field.

He is more of a provider than a finisher but, in a possession dominant side, Lammers’ numbers should improve.

With three already confirmed, Rangers could be set to announce the first forward acquisition of the summer in Sam Lammers and a player that could be a real difference maker.
