Rangers have already roped in Lawrence Shankland from Hearts on a free transfer, thanks to a secret clause, and could sign close to 10 players this window.
While there are several areas that need addressing, signing a defensive midfielder has emerged as a priority for Danny Rohl‘s side, especially with Nicolas Raskin and Mohamed Diomande likely to leave.

BK Hacken sporting director cannot promise Andersen’s stay
Andersen has emerged as a defensive midfield target for Rangers this summer, with Stig Inge Bjornebye driving the club’s recruitment drive in Scandinavia.
Sporting CP have also been credited with an interest in the 21-year-old, and are said to have tabled a bid in excess of £6million.
Hacken have been demanding £9m for Andersen, so it remains to be seen if that offer is acceptable to them.
Meanwhile, the Swedish club’s sporting director, Erik Friberg, has confessed they will cash in on one of their stars this summer when directly asked about the Norway Under-21 international’s future.
Friberg admitted that he cannot promise whether Andersen will stay at Hacken beyond this summer, leaving the door open for an imminent exit.
Speaking on Fotbollskanalen’s Bollklubben show, he said: “We will sell someone, we will. I can’t promise that Silas [Andersen] will stay. Nothing is clear yet; we’ll see where it goes.”

Rangers must push for Andersen
From Friberg’s comments, it is evident that Andersen is likely to depart Hacken this summer, especially if the Gothenburg-based club receive a strong offer.
Sporting are pushing for a transfer already, and Rangers must waste no time in making their move either.
Andersen does not fit Andrew Cavenagh‘s stated criteria of being Scottish or having experience in Scottish football, but he is a player worth taking a punt on.
It is worth noting that the Ibrox club have also been linked with the likes of Elliot Watt and Cammy Devlin.
With Raskin and Diomande likely to depart, Rangers could bring in Andersen and one of the aforementioned players to restore balance.
