Rangers are reportedly keen on bringing Besiktas winger Vaclav Cerny back to Ibrox in the summer transfer window.

Cerny was on loan at Rangers from Wolfsburg back in the 2024/25 season, when he enjoyed a good year in Scotland.

The Czech Republic international made 52 appearances for Rangers in all competitions, scoring 18 goals and providing 9 assists.

Rangers discuss possibility of signing Vaclav Cerny

According to Turkish journalist Murat Ozen, the Light Blues are discussing internally the possibility of re-signing Cerny this summer.

Ozen’s words on the Orta Cizgi YouTube channel were translated by Kartalın Asaleti JK on X, and he was quoted as saying: “Vaclav Cerny’s Rangers transfer is being discussed behind the scenes.”

The 28-year-old was eyed by the Gers following his loan spell, but he ended up being too expensive for them.

Instead, Cerny opted to move to Turkish side Besiktas, where he has spent the last year.

He joined Besiktas on a three-year contract and played an entire season for them.

In all competitions in the 2025/26 campaign, he made 34 appearances, scoring seven goals and providing eight assists.

How much will it cost to bring Cerny back to Ibrox?

Rangers need to sign a quality right winger after they decided not to exercise the option to buy Andreas Skov Olsen permanently.

They could turn to Cerny, who, despite being at the club for just a year, was arguably their best player and managed to hit the ground running in Scotland.

He was reliable not just in front of goal, but in terms of his ability too, and showed that he was willing to fight for the jersey each time he stepped onto the field.

Should Liam Kelly be the first-choice keeper for Rangers next season?

He has signed a two-year contract extension…

As Besiktas signed him for £6m last year, they are expected to demand as much or a little more than that to part ways with him this summer.

Given the Gers’ willingness to spend, Cerny most certainly would fit into their budget, and he would immediately strengthen their playing eleven.

A decision on the right winger is expected to be made once it is clear whether or not Danny Rohl will remain at Ibrox ahead of next season.
