Robbie Fraser has left Rangers on loan for the remainder of the season.

The rising Ibrox starlet made a cameo against Celtic in his side’s 3-0 mauling of their rivals in front of a packed out home crowd.

It would have been a dream come true for the kid who has made four appearances for the first-team in total since bursting onto the scene.

Now the left-back has joined Livingston under David Martindale until the end of the campaign where he will hope to earn more minutes in men’s football in the competitive Scottish Championship.

It comes after Portsmouth were linked with Fraser but their boss refuted the £200k deal rumour.

Livi currently sit second in the division and are chasing leaders Falkirk but that top of the table mentality can only help the Rangers hopeful who wants to push Jefte for the position upon his return.

Philippe Clement handed Fraser his first appearance in blue and back in the summer the Belgian refused to sign another left-back to compete with Jefte as he felt the academy star was able.

Livi boss Martindale, meanwhile, has spoken of his delight at landing a high quality prospect for his side’s challenge and has promised to take advantage of the 21-year-old’s versatility in the run-in.

Robbie Fraser has joined Livingston on loan

“I am delighted to get a player of Robbie’s calibre into the building. As a group, he will really enhance us and all of the coaching staff are looking forward to working with him,” Martindale told the club’s website.

“Robbie is predominantly a left back but can play up one at left wing or right wing so will give us real, additional options going forward.

“He looks after the ball tremendously well and has great energy and enthusiasm for the game.

“He has had a very good grounding at Rangers and understands the game and in my experience over the years, these types of players are hard to come by in the winter window.

“The board have been very supportive and have found the finances that allow us to make a signing or two in this window, so I must say a huge thanks to John Ward, John McIlvogue and Dave Black as well as Nils Koppen at Rangers, who have all played an important part in getting Robbie in to us here Livingston.”

What Fraser has said about being given a shot with Rangers

Fraser has previously confessed his love for Rangers and has always hoped to make more appearances for Clement.

And when told that he would be given a shot to compete, Fraser said at the time: “That’s fantastic to hear.

“It’s exactly what you want. I’m working every day to try and capitalise on any moments I can get. Of course, Ridvan is a great player and the team will miss him. But it’s an opportunity for me to step in and try and show what I can do.

“You work every day for moments and if any moments come, you have to be ready. The gaffer talks about it all the time that he can show faith in young players, so I have to be on my toes.”
