The very latest Rangers transfers news and rumours on January 3 including updates on Robbie Fraser, Marko Soldo, Jose Cifuentes and James Sands.
Potential Jose Cifuentes £4m windfall collapses
Aris Thessaloniki will not take up the option to sign Rangers midfielder Jose Cifuentes permanently for £4m, reports in Greece state.
Cifuentes joined Aris on loan in the summer until the end of the season and the Greek outfit held the option to recruit Cifuentes if they wished.
But they feel the £4m fee is too high and will not trigger the clause. Cifuentes, at this moment in time, will return to Ibrox in the summer.

Robbie Fraser Portsmouth rumours denied
Portsmouth manager John Mousinho has quashed rumours linking Rangers full-back Robbie Fraser with a £200k switch down south.
The 21-year-old struggles for game time at Ibrox and has appeared for just 15 minutes in the Premiership this season.
Pompey were linked with a move for Fraser but Mousinho has poured cold water on any sort of move. Asked by BBC Radio Solent, he said: “No, nothing in that, nothing in that.”
Rangers hit Marko Soldo roadblock
It is being reported by Sportske that Osijek midfielder Marko Soldo will not be allowed to leave the club amid strong interest from Rangers.
We at Rangers News exclusively revealed that the Ibrox club are keen on signing Soldo, with the 21-year-old fitting the mould technical director Nils Koppen and Philippe Clement want.
But Soldo – who could be available for between €2m and €3m – is needed for Osijek’s quest to finish third in the Croatian top-flight.
However, it is being stated Osijek could sanction Soldo’s transfer in the summer if Rangers still hold an interest in signing him.

Ex-Rangers man James Sands signs for St Pauli
Former Rangers defender James Sands has signed for Bundesliga outfit St Pauli on loan from New York City FC.
Sands played at Ibrox during the 2022/23 campaign but his 18-month loan contract was cut short and returned to America.
After signing for St Pauli, Sands has said: “St Pauli is a club that football fans in New York know. I will still have to get to grips with the team’s game plan.
“Those in charge showed me very convincingly what ambitions the club has and what role I can play in it.
“For me, the move to one of the strongest European leagues is a big challenge and one that I’m really looking forward to.”
