Rangers have a long way to go and a short time to get there as Philippe Clement looks to get his team Champions League ready.
The draw for the third qualifying round has been favourable but the clock is ticking on the manager being able to strengthen his squad.
News has emerged of one player who looks to be heading out the Ibrox exit in a move that could help to kick start Rangers transfer window.

Sam Lammers nears Rangers exit
According to Andrea Losapio, a journalist for Tutto Mercato Web, Sam Lammers has agreed to leave Rangers.
A return to Utrecht was quickly ruled out due to the forward’s wage demands, however, despite initial fears that they too couldn’t afford a deal either, Twente look set to seal Lammers’ Eredivisie return:
“Former Atalanta and Sampdoria Sam Lammers will return to Eredivisie after successful spell at Utrecht.
“He’s one step away from Twente.”
Hopefully, this allows Clement to go for the two most suitable players who have been linked for the right wing with either Adama Traore or Vaclav Cerny – the latter is already following Rangers on social media.
Philippe Clement will look to raise Rangers fans’ spirits
The manager is being more patient than the fans having been a boss long enough to understand the frustrations of the transfer window:
“It’s not a point now to rate [the window]. The one thing I have learned is to work hard, work hard with the players who are there and you never know how fast things go. You are not in control of that.
“With players you want you first need to convince them to come and then you need to convince their team that you pay the right amount of money. You can only make an evaluation on September 1. That is my reality.
“Sometimes you do business early, sometimes it can be the last day. It depends on the market.
“Also, my experience tells me that in the years you have World Cups or Euros, the market starts slower. We have been really busy already with watching a lot of players. Already we have done really good things for the future of the club.”
It’s amazing the difference that 2-3 players would make to the mood in the Rangers support.
If Clement can sign players like Cerny and Joan Jordan as well as selling Cyriel Dessers and replacing him with a more clinical and more mobile striker, it would make the squad look a whole lot better.
As for Lammers, selling him on a permanent basis and replacing him with someone who can go straight into the starting XI would be like Christmas come early.
There’s a long way to go, but it would at least be a start.
