Rangers have officially announced the signing of Senegalese international forward Abdallah Sima, with the club still interested in Jose Cifuentes, Danilo and Cyriel Dessers.

The 22-year-old forward was announced as the club’s fifth summer signing, joining on a season-long loan from Premier League upstarts Brighton, who paid £7m to sign the forward in 2021.

Rangers fans are certainly more familiar with Abdallah Sima, who has spent the last two seasons out on loan at Stoke City in the English Championship and Angers in Ligue 1, from his time with Slavia Prague.

Speaking after the signing was announced, Abdallah Sima spoke about the role Michael Beale played in taking him to “a big club with a big history” in the famous Glasgow Rangers.

“Rangers is a big club with a big history,” Sima told the official Rangers website. “I played here for Slavia Prague two or three years ago and when I came here I liked it so for me it is very exciting to join Rangers.

“I spoke with Michael Beale and it was a very natural conversation, he told me about Rangers and about how we will be playing. I already knew a bit about how Rangers play so when they called me I was very honoured.”

Rangers sign Abdallah Sima – with more to follow

Abdallah Sima becomes the fifth player to join Rangers this summer, the Ibrox side having already secured pre-contract deals for Kieran Dowell (Norwich City), Dujon Sterling (Chelsea) & Jack Butland (Crystal Palace), as well as a reported £3.5m permanent deal for Atalanta striker Sam Lammers.

Rangers are also set to have a busy July if the latest reports are to be believed, with the club still busy on the transfer front ahead of the new season.

Ecuadorean international Jose Cifuentes has been repeatedly mentioned and as he prepares to enter the final six months of his LAFC deal, a move to Rangers is expected to be negotiated fairly soon.

Rangers have also had an opening bid knocked back for Feyenoord’s Brazilian striker Danilo with the sounds around the deal suggesting the Ibrox side should be able to strike a move.

On top of this, Rangers retain an interest in Cremonese forward Cyriel Dessers with the Italian side’s sporting director claiming that negotiations are ongoing.
