The ball is in Rangers’ court when it comes to Cremonese striker Cyriel Dessers as the Italian club await the Ibrox side’s latest proposal.

That’s according to Cremonese sporting director Simone Giacchetta, whose comments amid much speculation surrounding Ibrox interest in the 28-year-old striker.

And now the Italian director has claimed that Rangers are in negotiations with Cremonese over Cyriel Dessers in a positive transfer update that suggests an Ibrox move is on the cards.

However, Giacchetta claims that Cremonese are awaiting the latest proposal from Rangers when it comes to the striker as negotiations seemingly continue.

As quoted by Sport Italia, Giacchetta says:

“There is a negotiation with the Rangers underway but at the moment everything is at a standstill because we are waiting for them to formulate the new proposal.”

Rangers Cyriel Dessers pursuit continues

There is a lot of chatter surrounding Rangers interest in Cyriel Dessers, with links to Danilo earlier in the week seemingly pouring cold water on all the speculation.

But Rangers insiders Heart & Hand appeared to rebuff the suggestion it was one or the other in comments made this week by David Edgar.

The Leading Rangers fan media outlet also claimed that Rangers were beginning to grow tired of Cremonese’s negotiations, rather than the other way about.

“Dessers is still very much a possibility but I think there’s some frustration on Rangers’ end at the length of time that it’s taking,” said David Edgar.

“I think Rangers are getting close now to saying ‘look, give us a definitive answer one way or another, or we will be going elsewhere’.”

The most recent reports have suggested that Rangers bid £3.5m for Danilo, with Feyenoord wanting £7m, and that the club hope to sign a loan with option-to-buy for Cyriel Dessers.

Rangers are also said to be closing in on a loan deal for Brighton attacker Abdallah Sima with the latest suggesting the striker has passed his medical at Ibrox.
