Rangers are set to announce the signing of Brighton attacker Abdallah Sima as the club’s 5th summer transfer after the forward passed a medical at the club.
According to STV, the 22-year-old Senegal international forward will become Michael Beale’s fifth signing of a productive summer window and bolster Rangers’ forward line.
The deal will be an initial loan move and there have been murmurs elsewhere that the package could include an option-to-buy somewhere along the line.
Brighton paid Slavia Prague a reported £7m to sign Abdallah Sima back in 2021 and Rangers fans are most familiar with the attacker from his time with the Czech Republic club.
The forward impressed across both legs of a controversial Europa League quarter final which was overshadowed by a shocking incidence of racist abuse aimed at Glen Kamara from Slavia centre-back Ondrej Kudela.
Abdallah Sima passes Rangers medical
STV say that if “all goes to plan” then Abdallah Sima will be announced at Rangers within the next 24 hours after passing the medical in what is a potentially exciting move for the Ibrox club.
Having seen the last two seasons of his career interrupted by injury, which have overshadowed loan stints with Championship Stoke City and Ligue 1 Angers, the move to Rangers will also be welcome news to Abdallah Sima.
The Gers have been busy bolstering their frontline ahead of next season, with Abdallah Sima set to join Sam Lammers (Atalanta) at Rangers after passing a medical.
The club still have several irons in the fire when it comes to potential striker signings too, with the likes of Cremonese striker Cyriel Dessers and Feyenoord forward Danilo heavily linked.
Rangers have already completed the signings of the aforementioned Lammers – on a reported £3.5m deal – with pre-contract moves for Kieran Dowell (Norwich), Dujon Sterling (Chelsea) and Jack Butland (Crystal Palace) coming earlier in the summer.
