Derek Cornelius joined Rangers in the summer transfer window on a season-long loan from Marseille.
While the centre-back has not played since November due to injury and then falling out of favour with Danny Rohl, he was a consistent starter when he joined.
The 28-year-old was also playing the full 90 minutes on most occasions, and his injury came as a major blow as results were not the best at the start of the season.
Danny Rohl has lost just one league game as Rangers manager…
If YOU were to change one thing about his management style for next season, what would it be? 🤔
Rangers not expected to re-sign Derek Cornelius next season
According to the Rangers Review, the Light Blues are not expected to sign Cornelius ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
They are not exploring the possibility of even a loan deal, let alone a permanent option, given the defender’s unavailability for the majority of the season.
Even though he played for Canada during the recent international break, Rohl and the hierarchy are not understood to be impressed with what he could bring to the table.

Rangers do not see Cornelius as an upgrade on the current centre-back options, with Emmanuel Fernandez and Nasser Djiga being his go-to options in the heart of the back line.
John Souttar is also expected to be ahead of the Canadian in the pecking order and there could be another defender signed in the summer.
Thus far, they are yet to work out the feasibility of signing Djiga, who is also on loan, from Wolves.

Is letting Cornelius go the right decision?
Rangers will be challenging for the title next season and they need competent players in every position.
Having just a strong starting eleven and a weak bench will not be enough, as the competition for places is what will make them champions.
Rohl will have had enough time to gauge Cornelius and he is the one who will be blamed if the Gers struggle next season, so it should be his decision.
If he is not impressed, then it makes sense to let go of the 28-year-old, who is a squad player at best.
The Light Blues could bring in someone who can be a regular starter, as that will push the likes of Fernandez, Souttar and Djiga, if he stays, to be better.
