Rangers could make a move to sign Will Dennis from Premier League outfit AFC Bournemouth with the goalkeeper impressing at Scottish rivals Kilmarnock.
Jack Butland, in the words of Ibrox legend Ally McCoist, is perhaps the club’s ‘best signing in years’. The summer signing from Crystal Palace in ‘outstanding’ form and pulling off a string of fine saves yet again during Thursday’s thrilling Europa League victory over Real Betis.
Beyond Butland, however, Rangers’ goalkeeper situation is somewhat less certain.
Robby McCrorie, the Daily Record writes, is keen to leave on loan in January to boost his hopes of featuring at Euro 2024. Veteran Jon McLaughlin, meanwhile, is entering the final few months of his contract.
Ditto Will Dennis. The Bournemouth-owned shot-stopper will also become a free-agent in July. But, thanks to his performances on loan at Kilmarnock, Dennis is unlikely to be short of offers in the New Year.
Rangers face Celtic battle for Kilmarnock’s Will Dennis

Rangers and Old Firm rivals Celtic are both ‘keeping close tabs’ on the 23-year-old, scouts working on behalf of the Ibrox outfit watching Dennis at Rugby Park. Once of Watford and Luton Town, the Englishman has kept ten clean sheets all season and seven in the Scottish Premiership.
Only Zander Clark of Hearts and Rangers’ own Butland have more.
Dennis also caught the eye when Kilmarnock defeated Mick Beale’s Gers side on the opening day of the season back in August.
A new goalkeeper in Philippe Clement’s sights
“It’s great getting top-flight experience under my belt,” Dennis, who is following in the footsteps of Freddie Woodman and Daniel Bachmann in Ayrshire, told Herald Scotland in August.
“The main thing as a goalkeeper is keeping the ball out of the net. And in this league, there are good players coming your way trying to score. I’m loving the environment here, and the fans as well they are great.
“Scottish football and Kilmarnock is a great pathway for everyone.”
Rangers are also looking to bring in a defender and a striker in January, with Mason Holgate, Nathaniel Adjei and Bojan Miovski among those linked.
