A protracted transfer saga finally looks to be at an end as talkSPORT are reporting that Rangers linked midfielder Jack Wilshere has agreed a short-term deal with Bournemouth.

Since Wilshere’s West Ham contract was cancelled by mutual consent in October, there has been near-constant speculation about his future.

The 29-year-old was almost immediately linked with a move to Rangers [PA] before it was reported that his preference would be to head to the United States to join an MLS team [Mirror].

In November, he stated his desire to move overseas, while later that month he angered Rangers supporters by making comments about the club that some considered to be disrespectful.

Any slim lingering chance of him ending up at Ibrox now looks to be gone, though.

TalkSPORT reported on Monday morning that the England international has agreed a short-term contract at EFL Championship side Bournemouth.

The deal is likely to last until the end of the season.

The news comes just days after Cherries boss Jason Tindall hinted that contract discussions were planned after praising Wilshere for his sharpness and quality whilst training with the club in recent weeks.

Bournemouth are currently third in the Championship table and eight points behind leaders Norwich City, as they look to gain promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

Wilshere isn’t the only midfielder the Gers have been linked with in recent times, with a Nigeria international also said to be on the club’s radar.
