Rangers-linked PSG wonderkid Xavi Simons played the entire match as Kylian Mbappe stole the show in a 4-0 Coupe de France victory over Vannes Olympique Club.

The 18-year-old Dutch wonderkid has been extensively linked with a move to Rangers [AS Diario] as his contract ticks down at the Parc des Princes.

As the months continue to draw in PSG appear to be handing Xavi Simons more opportunities in the cup with this the midfielder’s second start in the competition in recent weeks.

But it was French superstar Kylian Mbappe and not the frizzy-haired Dutch talent who stole the show with a stunning hattrick to dump the French fourth-tier side.

Kylian Mbappe nets stunning PSG hattrick alongside Rangers-linked Xavi Simons

PSG started a strong squad for the clash Vannes with Kylian Mbappe joining the likes of Gini Wijnaldum, Marco Veratti, Ander Herrera and Presnel Kimpembe in the starting XI.

And it was the big French defender who opened the scoring for the Parisian giants, the centre-back bulleting a header home just before the half-hour mark.

Just before the hour-mark, Kylian Mbappe would then begin to make his mark on the game with his first of three goals as his effort bounced into the net despite the best efforts of Vannes goalkeeper Clement Petrel.

On 70 minutes the 23-year-old revelation would show why the top clubs in world football are interested in him by getting a second with a rocket from the edge of the box over the keeper.

Kylian Mbappe then showed his striker instincts to complete the hattrick after slotting the ball home into an empty net from within the six-yard box.

The French international signed for PSG as a teenager in a deal reaching £165.7m [BBC Sport] and – like Simons – there is much debate surrounding his future and interest from Real Madrid as his contract ticks down.

If Rangers-linked Xavi Simons was wanting some exposure to the PSG first-team, it doesn’t get much better than playing with some of these guys and the French side will be hoping it convinces him to sign.

Rangers fans remain eager to see the club launch an ambitious move for the youngster and even hijacked his New Year message on Twitter as they urged the Dutchman to move to Glasgow.
