Rangers fans have been urging Ibrox-linked PSG wonderkid Xavi Simons to join the Gers after he posted a New Year’s message on his social media.

The Dutch playmaker, 18, took to Twitter to urge his followers to “be the best version of you” and it wasn’t long before Gers fans jumped on the comments.

One of the most highly-rated young prospects in the global game, Rangers were linked to Xaxi Simons at the beginning of December.

These links originated in Spanish outlet AS Diario with La Liga giants Barcelona also mentioned as a potential destination.

Rangers fans urge Xavi Simons to swap PSG for Ibrox

Xavi Simons came through the youth ranks at Barcelona’s La Masia before signing his first professional deal with French giants PSG.

Said to be worth a money-spinning €20k a week, the deal made Simons one of the best paid youngsters in the game but it is now entering its final six months.

Rangers are one of a number of clubs said to be monitoring the situation, with PSG themselves said to be eager to sign Simons down with the player turning out for the club’s first team last month.

But that hasn’t stopped Rangers fans – whilst realistic about the spending power at Ibrox – flirting with the notion Xavi Simons could join the Dutch contingent at Ibrox next season:

Between Giovanni van Bronckhorst, Roy Makaay and Dave Vos, Rangers have a Dutch coaching contingent that many fans hope could convince Xavi Simons to sign.

But whilst this move may at this stage something of an ambitious one, there’s still plenty of Ibrox transfer links doing the rounds in the press.

The Ibrox side are also said to have made an approach for an exciting Spanish midfielder who’s also being tracked by Real Madrid.
