Rangers linked Xavi Simons [Scotsman] shone for PSG in his first start of the season as the side ran out comfortable winners 3-0 over Feignies-Aulnoye in the Coupe de France.

The youngster performed well during the 90 minutes, completing an impressive 88% of his passes, having a total of five shots, and playing five key passes during the match [SofaScore].

The highly-rated youngster made his debut for PSG last season in the same competition and has impressed suitably to earn a start in the cup competition to gain valuable experience.

PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino will need to nurture the young talent properly if he wants the young Dutchman to go far in the game and his comments post-match suggest more appearances in the competition are likely.


“He had a good game, he played 90 minutes,” Said Pochettino [Topmercato].

“I think that this type of competition, the Coupe de France, and this type of match are a good opportunity for these young people to show themselves and gain experience.

“They know how the first team players play and these games serve to build relationships between all the players and then be able to grow and have quality.” Said Pochettino.

Earlier this month, a report from AS Diario stated that with his contract running down, Giovanni van Bronckhorst was looking to sign the youngster for Rangers.

While he would be an excellent signing, if other major European sides are in the hunt, then it could well be a tough ask for Rangers to match the financial offerings of some of Europe’s elite.

Whilst a move to the Ibrox side may be wishful thinking, Ross Wilson, and van Bronckhorst may work their magic and use connections to bring the Dutch youth international to the club.

Only time will tell.

Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund director Michael Zorc has spoken over fears that a key man will miss the tie with Rangers.
