Rangers-linked Aberdeen star ‘subject to potential £3.5m Serie A club bid’

A transfer window scarcely goes by without Rangers being linked to Lewis Ferguson but this time around the Aberdeen midfielder is the latest name to be linked with a move to Italy.

The son of former Rangers midfielder Derek and nephew of ex-Ibrox skipper Barry, Lewis Ferguson is one of the most highly-rated young talents in the Scottish game.

After the success of Aaron Hickey at Bologna, Scottish players being linked to Serie A continues to be in vogue and Lewis Ferguson is the latest name to be linked to the Italian top flight.

RONALDO NEEDS TO STOP WHINING.

Namely, Sky Italia are reporting that Cagliari have launched a loan move for Lewis Ferguson with a £3.5m obligation-to-buy if the Italian club avoid relegation.

As things stand, Cagliari are 18th in Serie A, two points from safety in the relegation zone with nearest rivals Venezia having a game in hand.

These links to Scotland international Lewis Ferguson also come after Bologna were linked with a move for Aberdeen teammate Calvin Ramsay.

Still only 22, Ferguson’s young age comes as a surprise given the player’s immense first-team exposure at both Pittodrie and New Douglas Park.

Lewis Ferguson had made 14 appearances for Hamilton before moving to Aberdeen in 2018 and since then the midfielder has gone on to play 149 times for the Dons, scoring 29 goals.

A robust, never-say-die box-to-box midfielder with the ability to shoot from range, Lewis Ferguson is a midfielder in the mould of the former Rangers pair who once turned out at Ibrox.

A fan favourite when it comes to transfer rumours at Ibrox too, many supporters routinely endorse a Rangers move for the Aberdeen star.

Contracted to Pittodrie until 2024, should any party wish to sign Lewis Ferguson they will be expected to stump up but could Cagliari tempt both the Dons and the player in this window?

Speaking of Rangers transfers, the Ibrox side have just been linked to a Bulgarian international winger as the club continues its transfer hunt this window.
