As excitement bubbles over the transfers into Rangers this summer, exit deals for Glen Kamara, Borna Barisic and Scott Wright could bank the club a cool £7.5m.

Rangers are reportedly closing in on signings number eight and nine of the summer window in the shape of Brazilian striker Danilo and Ecuadorean midfielder Jose Cifuentes.

This South American pair will join seven other signings in a summer revamp for as the Ibrox club target every area of the pitch in the hope of mounting a more serious title challenge this season.

But whilst there has been a suggestion that Rangers are top heavy or bloated heading into the new campaign, the club’s transfer planning has upgraded a squad badly in need of fresh blood.

Whilst the focus has been on the names coming into the club, Rangers are also in the process of shipping names out with several high profile transfers out of Ibrox already this summer.

Rangers could bank nine figures on transfers out of club

Some others in the Scottish press appear to have forgotten that five players and over 1000 appearances left at the beginning of the summer, with Rangers shifting a reported £4.5m per year off the wage bill in the process.

On top of Allan McGregor, Filip Helander, Scott Arfield, Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos leaving, Rangers have also banked £2.5m on Antonio Colak, who’s moved to Parma, whilst young Polish right-back Matuesz Zukowski has returned to his home country.

Bundesliga loanee Malik Tillman – albeit a permanent transfer target this summer – also looks set to move elsewhere as Bayern Munich cash in on the attacking midfielder.

Zukowski aside, these are all big players from last season who needed replaced.

The exits are not set to finish there either, with several players in a bloated Rangers squad being linked with the exit door and transfers out of the club.

Rangers are holding out for around £5m for midfielder Glen Kamara, who is the subject of interest from across Europe and who will almost certainly leave Ibrox this summer.

Ibrox winger Scott Wright has been to Turkey to discuss a £500k exit and, whilst nothing is signed, sealed and delivered just yet, is another who will likely move on.

The situation around Borna Barisic, reportedly interesting Nottingham Forest in the Premier League, could also soon come to a head with the player in the final year of his Ibrox deal and £2m said to be his asking price.

Should these deals come for fruition, then Rangers could bank up to £10m in transfer fees alone this summer in a positive indictment of the club’s much-maligned player trading model.

The futures of others, including the likes of Fashion Sakala and Rabbi Matondo, continue to be the subject of much debate whilst several of the club’s young talents might be better served going out on loan.

Whatever the case, there will be increased balance to the squad in the coming weeks with transfers in and out of Rangers expected to deliver Michael Beale’s vision of a competitive, tighter-knit and stronger squad this season.
