Rangers appear to have been sent a direct indication from Tromso regarding the transfer of Jens Hjerto-Dahl.

Hjerto-Dahl has already agreed personal terms with Rangers as he fancies a move to Ibrox over Cardiff City.

Cardiff have made an improved offer, but the final decision ultimately rests with the midfielder.

Tromso sporting director admits Jens Hjerto-Dahl sale could ‘definitely happen’

Lars Petter Andressen, the Tromso sporting director, has left the door open for the 20-year-old’s exit this summer.

He has also confirmed that the club have been in talks with Cardiff for a while, but that does not mean he will be going to the Welsh outfit.

Andressen has stated that there are other clubs in the mix too, which is why they are not making a hasty decision.

He told Nordly’s FireFireBlod: “It can definitely happen.

“We talked about it last winter too: in theory, four players could leave.

“It’s always difficult to find the right timing: when can we sell and when should we keep them?

“TIL [Tromso] and Cardiff have had a dialogue over a period of time.

“At the same time, there should be other clubs that are close to the situation, and that means you don’t want to rush into any decision.

“Nothing has been decided.”

How Rangers hold the upper hand over Cardiff City for Hjerto-Dahl

The fact that Andressen has stated that the club do not want to make a hasty decision amid interest from other clubs suggests that the midfielder has made it clear to them that he does not want to join Cardiff.

Having agreed personal terms with the Light Blues, it is clear that he fancies a move to Ibrox this summer.

Rangers have decided on a price for Hjerto-Dahl, and are sticking with it, meaning that Tromso would have to get to the negotiating table.

If he wanted to join Cardiff, Andressen would have spoken about it, but even after name-dropping them, he mentioned interest from other clubs.

It’s clear that they are waiting on another offer from the Ibrox outfit, so it may take some more time before this deal is finalised.
