Rangers and Celtic face a Liverpool “waiting game” over 21-year-old left-back Owen Beck after he was recalled from Dundee.
Both sides of the Old Firm have been strongly linked with the left-back, who impressed during a six-month stint on loan from Dundee.
So much so that reports south of the border have already claimed that Rangers and Celtic have both had initial approaches turned down this January.
Rangers and Celtic linked to Owen Beck
Now, Football Scotland are claiming a potential second loan deal of the season for the player is not yet dead even if Jurgen Klopp wants to keep the Welsh talent around this January.
The report more strongly mentions Celtic as potential Owen Beck suitors and is substantially more weighted in the direction of our Old Firm rivals.
Claiming that the Parkhead side have been monitoring Beck since October, Rangers are also mentioned as potential suitors amid the club’s hunt for a new left-back.
However the report claims Owen Beck has only started piquing Rangers’ interest from December although we’re not quite sure what difference that makes, if any, to the outcome of this apparent pursuit.
Liverpool injuries could dictate transfer outcome
Liverpool currently have their two first-team left-back options out with injury, as Andy Robertson recovers from a shoulder injury and Kostas Tsimikas joins him on the sidelines.
So far Joe Gomez has done a very capable job of deputising but Jurgen Klopp is said to want to keep Owen Beck around until the injured duo return to the first team.
Interestingly, should Liverpool play the youngster at any point – bear in mind Beck has made the bench under Klopp since his recall – then another loan deal will be off the table.

Under FIFA rules players can only play for two sides in a competitive season and if the left-back plays even a minute, then a move to Ibrox or Celtic Park is a non-starter.
Rangers are known to be in the market for a new left-back this January with manager Philippe Clement touching on the position in a recent transfer update.
